ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior vice president and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that load shedding across the country will be reduced to three and a half hours from tomorrow. The load shedding will be reduced from 2 to 1.5 hours from June 30. Efforts are being made to overcome the power crisis. No new power plant has been installed for four years. Today, the demand for electricity is 25,000 MW and the deficit is 4,000 MW.
He said in a press conference with the cabinet members that he apologized to the people for the load shedding. He said that the load shedding would be brought under control soon. From June 30, load shedding will be reduced to less than 2 hours. The previous government lied to the people for 4 years. The previous government did not install any new plants. The previous government did not make any new deal for LNG. Not to make excuses is to reduce the difficulties of the people.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that there is a shortage of 4000 MW due to which load shedding is taking place. The available resources in the country can generate 18000 MW. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to review the situation of power load-shedding in detail.
The Prime Minister directed the concerned ministers to balance the supply of electricity to industry and domestic consumers. Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb had said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has called for an emergency plan to reduce load shedding within 24 hours. The Information Minister said that the plan for a gradual reduction in load shedding will be implemented effectively.
